Developmental of hip dysplasia in babies affect one and three per cent of newborns (sometimes referred to as congenital hip dysplasia or ‘clicky hips’. The condition is where the baby’s ball and socket hip joint fails to develop fully and doesn’t fit together. Hip screens are undertaken in the first few weeks of life usually if there is a family history of hip problems in early life or the baby has been breech presentation.
