Musculoskeletal ultrasound scanning is used to produce images of muscles, tendons, ligaments and joints throughout the body. The lower limb scan covers the area of the hip, thigh, knee, ankle and foot. The upper limb scans covers the area of the shoulder, arm, elbow, wrist and hands. Many conditions can be diagnosed with musculoskeletal ultrasound scanning as the real time imaging allows for a detailed examination of the affected area. This is particularly useful for demonstrating causes of pain, muscle and tendon tears. Ultrasound maybe one of the investigations you require, however you should consult your GP to ensure that any other investigations can be arranged.
